E-commerce Accounting

Accounting and bookkeeping for Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, WooCommerce, Stripe and other online platforms.

Overview

How we help with E-commerce Accounting

Online selling generates a settlement statement, not an invoice. Reconciling gross sales, platform fees, refunds, shipping and VAT back to a net payout is where most e-commerce bookkeeping goes wrong.

We reconcile each platform to your ledgers properly — gross revenue, commission, advertising, fulfilment fees, refunds, chargebacks and currency differences all recorded separately rather than netted into one deposit. That is the only way to see true product margin after fees.

We also deal with the VAT complexity: marketplace deemed-supplier rules, OSS and IOSS for EU sales, import VAT and postponed accounting, and the treatment of overseas stock held in fulfilment centres.

FAQs

E-commerce Accounting — common questions

Do I charge VAT on marketplace sales?

It depends on where you and the customer are, and whether the marketplace is treated as the deemed supplier. For many overseas sales the platform accounts for the VAT instead of you — but not in every case, which is why the reconciliation matters.

Can you handle sales in multiple currencies?

Yes. Multi-currency settlements, exchange differences and foreign platform fees are all part of the standard reconciliation.

How is your fee worked out?

Fixed fee, agreed before we start. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your business, so get in touch for a free, no-obligation quote.

Can you help if we're switching from another accountant?

Yes. We handle professional clearance with your previous accountant and update the agent authorisations with HMRC and Companies House, so you don't have to manage the handover.
